Hi all NW singles…
This is the first ever NW Singles Camping trip hosted by the Urban Professionals Ministry of the Seattle Church of Christ. We welcome brothers and sisters and friends from the NW family of churches.
Mt. Rainier is tallest (14411′) mountain in Washington and one of the 3 national parks in our state (and the best in my opinion).

Activities Detail
The Big Muir Hike:
Do you enjoy long hikes up snow covered mountains up the same elevation as the top of Mt St Helens? Then this hike is for you. Join Mike and Kirsten in the 5 mile hike up to Mt Rainiers most popular mountaineering base camp ‘Camp Muir’. This hike involves 4500 feet of elevation gain ending at 10,000 feet above sea level. On the way back enjoy glasading down the snow in long troughs made by prior hikers. At least half of the sojourn is on the muir permanent snow field. Be at the Paradise parking lot at 10am ready for a full day in Gods great country. Required gear: a camelback or large water bottle, snack food, hiking boots that can handle the snow, sunglasses, sunblock, and warm clothes for the top. Optional gear: gaiters, GPS, Skiis, snowboard, hiking poles, sled, garbage bag to slide on. This is a challenging hike and requires decent fitness and health, if you have asthma or similar health conditions be wise about joining us.
The Paradise Hike:
Not feeling the camp muir hike? Try this loop trail that takes you around the amazing paradise meadows area. Follow the skyline trail for a total of 5.4 miles and 1700 feet elevation gain topping out at Panorama Point at 7,100 feet. Essentials: Food, water, hiking boots, and warm clothes for the top. If the snow is cleared you may be lucky enough to see the long flowing flowering meadows and pristine garden like beauty of paradise. Just remember the marmots may look cute but you can’t take them home.
The Walking Tour:
Don’t want to be stuck in one place all day? Check out some of the great trails that keep you near the car. First stop by Narada Falls on the way up to Paradise and hike down to the viewpoint for some nice pics. Head up to Paradise and trudge up to Alta Vista for a view of the lower Paradise meadows. Hop back to the car and head over to Reflection Lakes. Still want some more then keep going to box canyon and maybe take a few steps on the 93 mile wonderland trail.
The driving tour:
Why go hiking when you can see the whole mountain in a day. Head up to Paradise and check out the lodge and visitor center. Next roll over to the opanacosh visitor center. Head north to Chinook Pass and take in the huge panoramic view right next to the Pacific Crest Trail, maybe you’ll run into a thru hiker coming from mexico. Drive back and continue around the park a little more to come to Sunrise the other major hub of Mt. Rainier… You’ll be glad you stuck it out to this point. Time to head back but your cameras full anyways…
