I was on my way back from a Bible study last night, when I noticed I had a missed call on my phone. It was an unfamiliar number, so I dialed the numbers, “Hello, who is this?” I asked.
“Who is this?” The voice on the other end stammered.
Hmm. The voice sounded vaguely familiar. I thought to myself, I think I should know who this is; but for the life of me I couldn’t figure it out. After some more thinking, I was still drawing a blank. Then there was laughter as the person on the other end finally revealed their identity, “It’s me, Landon.”
Landon and Gina are back from Denmark, where they serve as missionaries for the church there. After a few minutes of talking and joking, we immediately set up time to have dinner together with our wives and families (Yes, Landon and Gina are expecting). I also know that Dave and Ashley are coming back from China with their little girl (who I heard isn’t so little…go figure). The Holidays are so good at bringing old friends by, and spending time with an old friend is a double blessing or more. Some of the greatest blessings we have are faithful friends who are indeed dear to us, that come back into our lives.
