Last night Lynne and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary. What a steal for Scott that cold December night in 1983! I could just say that “our marriage” is the greatest blessing, and that would be true. But I want to emphasize “Anniversaries,” not just the fact of marriage itself.
Anniversaries give us a chance to reflect on what has been, and this can change and enhance greatly the meaning of the marriage. That meaning is whatever WE make of it. And what we make of it has a lot to do with what memories we choose to keep, cherish and rehearse, rather than neglect or forget. A few years ago, Lynne and I began keeping “The Book of Love,” a little leather-bound volume for documenting precious thoughts about our marriage. Only the two of us know what’s in it. We add to it, typically, on our anniversary, and on Valentine’s Day.
This time, we added ideas about the question, “____________”.
As I said, it’s just for the two of us;-)
