Carol and I are so blessed to have these BFFs in our lives. The eight of us have been connected for almost 15 years. Eight years ago we started a progressive Christmas dinner with one course at each of our houses. The laughter, the gifts, the Spirit, the connection… it all means so much to us. I thank God whenever I pray that we have such amazing friends in our lives.
At Charles and Tina’s house we did a BFF Progressive Dinner Mad Lib that went like this…
“It was Christmas Eve and the BFFs decided to go to the Christmas Eve service together and then out to a very SLIMY dinner. Everyone was supposed to arrive at the Robisons’ at 3PM to RUN some CHAMPAGNE and then STRETCH to the church building together. At 2:45 everything was set. The tree was PLUCKING and the CHAMPAGNE was warmed. First to arrive were the Martins. Paul was wearing a very nice HAPPY suit. Shelli was full of ELATION and sang a carol while the Lewis’ arrived with Carol. ‘Where’s Jay?’ Tina asked. Carol replied,’In the WREATH, putting the last finishing touches on his sermon.’ ‘BITE ME!’ Tina said.
Precisely at 6:30 Jay came throughout the door looking like he just finished his masterpiece. Everyone greeted him with a SOGGY hug, so excited for the evening. After a COLORFUL time of talking and laughing, we all headed to PARIS together. It was the best Christmas Eve service we’d ever remembered. The church was packed! Jay’s TOE NAILS were FRAIL.
Shelli and Carol sang a duet entitled ‘The SAINT PATRICK’S DAY LEMON TREES that brought a BFF to every SHOE.
After sending the congregation home we all headed to EVERETT. Butter surprised us with a toast in which he read a CHRISTMAS CAROL that he’d spent months writing for Lisa.
Everyone simply enjoyed each other. Frienships like these are to be treasured.
At our house over Carol’s delicious home made French onion soup and Shelli’s gourmet salad we shared “High Point, Low Point” of the year. It was okay to have multiple high points. We were only allowed one low point. There were tears, hugs, a prayer, delicious food and amazing fellowship. At Scott and Lisa’s house we had dessert and exchanged gifts. Paul gave us guys a cool hood/hat/scarfy thing that put us all in a very spiritual and contemplative mood.
