Three days ago I celebrated my 27th spiritual birthday. I was baptized on December 16, 1984 in the Boston Church of Christ as a 19-year-old college freshman. My friend, Todd Schoepflin, celebrates his baptism birthday on December 15. Our tradition these last few years is to meet at Greenlake around 11:00pm on the 15th and walk the lake talking and praying together until 12:30am or so. Here is a picture from last year’s prayer walk together.
The blessing I’m focusing on today is perseverance. I’ve had some amazing victories and some crushing defeats in my spiritual life over these last 27 years, but I’ve never given up on God and the truth of His word. I’m so thankful to still be counted among his faithful people and look forward to hearing those words, “Well done good and faithful servant,” one day in paradise.
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” -Hebrews 12:1
