There’s a lot going on–read this whole thing…
Last week, the Seattle staff joined church leaders from all over the Northwest and Western Canada at a spiritual retreat in Vancouver, BC; it was the BEST meeting we’ve ever had (!) In two and a half days, we shared our “best practices & biggest challenges” with each other, and had times of Bible and practical teaching from many different church leaders. There were SO many great lessons and challenges–including a special session from Alex Whitaker to the men on building campus ministry, and a tremendous lesson on building lay leadership from Jay, Daren, and Dana Perkins. Ron and Linda did what they always do–give us AMAZING faith in how to parent.
What made the time special though, was the renewed spirit of openness, trust, safety, and humility by all. This meant the world to all of us, and portends “even greater things” to come in our relationships, and in our churches.
Pray for our connections around the Northwest and the kingdom. There are so many needs and so many opportunities. In recent days, I have been wrestling with how to address our local needs (Eastside church building!), regional needs (Bellingham, and some of the smaller churches in the Northwest that cry out for help), and international needs–we have had two prominent church builders of proven mettle contact us in the last few months wondering if the “Northwest churches” might partner with them.
Amidst these needs are many considerations: how to properly shepherd our own work; how to respond to Acts 16 Macedonian visions in our region, and how to give our loaves and fishes to borders far beyond our fair city, that we might find a way to be locally, regionally, and even globally involved in the building of God’s Kingdom.
