Dear Brothers & Sisters!
Hello from Bellingham, WA! The church here is entering the 16th week of our 18 week summer/fall campaign. Fall has truly begun, with classes starting up at Western Washington University this past Wednesday, September 23rd.
Even before I share the good news below, I want to remind everyone of the great geography challenge we face here in Whatcom County, WA. There are only 18 disciples in the Bellingham Church right now. Of those 18, only 8 of us actually live in Bellingham proper. That 8 includes the Sanders and Jer’rel Coleman. The rest of the members live anywhere from 25 minutes to 1 hour and 10 minutes away from our church space. Of those Bellingham 8, only 1 of them is actually a student at Western. We are truly the Gideon clan! In spite of this, God has graciously worked through the church, us and the interns:
In one of our recent off-campus, summer Bibletalks we had 9 friends at the discussion, including the student body president of Western Washington University.
We held our first campus dinner this past Tuesday, September 25th. We ended up having 24 friends and visitors over at the Sanders’ house for an Italian pasta night.
At our first fall church service this past Sunday (September 30th) we had 11 campus students and singles visitors. This is the most exciting and dynamic Sunday service has been since we moved here a year ago.
We have 9 campus/single personal Bible studies now (6 guys, 3 gals). We set-up an additional 3 studies this week. One of the campus girls studying right now has already decided she wants to get baptized, so the women are just taking her through the last studies before she makes her final decision.
Finally, Dan & Kate Mills, long-time leaders in the Spokane Church have decided to sell their home and join the Bellingham mission team next year! We are delighted!
Thanks to all of you again for contributing money, heart, and now even people in your ministries to this cause up here. It is such a special and exciting time in our little church’s history.
