Hello brothers and sisters!
I just wanted to hank you all so much for all of your support for our MLK Day of Service this year. Both the Seattle and Tacoma events were really successful and we are SO grateful for all you did to make it a great day for the volunteers and partners who came out to serve. Here were our stats for this year for all 3 sites (Seattle, Tacoma and our TEAM-WORKS site):
393 volunteers attended, serving 1184.5 volunteer hours total
3432 door hangers distributed
1031 conversations had with residents–wow, almost 1/3, which is the highest number in 5 years!!!
We also had more partners outside the church at these events than ever before. We worked with 2 chapters of the Red Cross, the Tacoma Fire Department, Cascade Middle School, the WA State History Museum, the Girl Scouts, Habitat for Humanity and the awesome crew from the Seattle Seahawks. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive from all of the folks involved and I know that it was a really powerful demonstration of our Church’s heart to follow Jesus and serve those in need. Those are some well-known organizations and it is so great to be among them as a faith-based org making a huge impact.
A special thanks to Derrick Murrell for his leadership both on the HOPE side and with the fire department, to the Strongs for securing the awesome Seahawks crew, Nikki Mackinnon for all the little details, Terri Loso for joining us all the way from NY and to ALL of you who made announcements, updated the websites, encouraged people to come and who brought your families out to serve with us. I am SO PROUD of our church and our HOPEww chapter and happy we can share this victory from God together 🙂
Please let me know if you have any feedback on the event you’d like to share and thank you for your support for the work of HOPEww in our community!
