Hi all NW singles…
This was the first ever NW Singles Camping trip hosted by the Urban Professionals Ministry of the Seattle Church of Christ. We welcomed 60 brothers and sisters and friends from the NW family of churches.
Mt. Rainier is tallest (14411′) mountain in Washington and one of the 3 national parks in our state (and the best in my opinion).
The Big Muir Hike:
Many enjoyed a long hike up snow covered mountains up the same elevation as the top of Mt St Helens? Then this hike was for you. Mike and Kirsten lead the 5 mile hike up to Mt Rainier’s most popular mountaineering base camp ‘Camp Muir’. This hike involved 4500 feet of elevation gain ending at 10,000 feet above sea level. On the way back we enjoyed glasading down the snow in long troughs made by prior hikers. At least half of the sojourn was on the muir permanent snow field. We left the Paradise parking lot at 10am and enjoyed a full day in Gods great country.
The Paradise Hike:
For those who did not feel ready for the camp muir hike, they hiked a loop trail that took them around the amazing paradise meadows area. Brothers and sisters followed the skyline trail for a total of 5.4 miles and 1700 feet elevation gain topping out at Panorama Point at 7,100 feet. The marmots looked cute but couldn’t be taken home.
