This past weekend, we met together as a youth ministry to talk about the always-awkward, always-uncomfortable topic called “dating” with our families.
Parents were able to share things they wished they knew about dating as teens and teens were able to share things they wished their parents knew about dating nowadays. Our theme centered around the simple idea that every relationship we have in life – romantic or not – should first honor and glorify God. If humanity were to apply this one simple statement in each relationship in their life, our problems would miraculously disappear!
You might be aware that there is no specific Scripture about dating in the Bible, so any time we approach the subject as a church or family, we ought first to seek wisdom before rules. And clear, friendly, understanding communication in our family is the best and most effective way to do so!
Thanks for all who came. We’re looking forward to May 24th’s Youth and Family devotional, titled “Reasonable Boundaries in the 21st Century”. You won’t want to miss it!
