Daren & Karla Overstreet – Congregational Lead Evangelist & Women’s Ministry Leader
Daren & Karla Overstreet serve as lead evangelist for the Seattle Church of Christ and women’s ministry leader. Both graduated from the University of Washington – Daren with a degree in Architecture, Karla a degree in Psychology. Prior to entering the full time ministry, Daren worked at an Architecture firm, Karla in the social services field. They began their full time ministry work by leading a sister church in Tacoma, Washington. They served there for 14 wonderful years, before moving to Seattle, where they currently oversee the Eastside Region of the church. Daren did post-graduate work at Harding Graduate School of Theology in Memphis, TN. They have 3 children: Zack, Hunter, and Ellie. They have worked in ministry for 20 years, and enjoy helping disciples grow and reach their potential. They also enjoy watching/playing golf, long walks together, and all kinds of sushi!
Austen & Sara Bolves – Campus & Singles’ Ministry Leaders
Austen and Sara serve the Eastside region of the Seattle Church of Christ by leading the Singles and Campus ministries. They met at and graduated from the University of Washington—Sara with degrees in English and Law, Societies, and Justice, and Austen with a degree in Psychology and Anthropology. While at UW they served as student leaders and interns for the campus ministry. Together and individually, they spent lots of time leading small groups, mentoring disciples, and guiding people to Christ through personal Bible study. They began serving in the full-time ministry the summer of 2015 and are currently working on certificates in Biblical Studies through the Athens Institute of Ministry. They love working with the incredible staff at the Seattle Church and are grateful to get to shepherd college students and singles towards a strong and fulfilling relationship with God. In their free time they enjoy working out together, going to the movies, and exploring the awesome restaurants that the Seattle area has to offer!
Alex & Danielle Whitaker – Evangelist & Women’s Ministry Leader
Sebastian & Becky Aste – Campus Ministry Leaders
Sebastian and Becky lead the campus ministry made up of students at University of Washington, Seattle Pacific University, Seattle University, Shoreline Community College, and surrounding city schools. They met at Virginia Commonwealth University, where Sebastian graduated with a B.A. in international studies and a minor in religious studies. Becky went on to transfer and graduate from the University of Connecticut with a degree in Spanish and Latin American studies. After dating for 3 years during college, they got married in January 2012. Sebastian worked as a substance abuse counselor and case manager while Becky tutored ESL (English as a Second Language) students. They went into the ministry in October 2015 and both agree that they have never done anything more fulfilling in their life. They love working with students and helping them reach their maximum potential in their faith, leadership, confidence, and character. In their free time they have a passion for soccer, Thai food, exploring the PNW, and traveling. They’re expecting their first baby in July 2016 and are excited to meet their son!
Mick Connors – Singles Ministry Leader
Mick moved back to Seattle in September 2015 and is currently serving as the leader of the Westside Singles ministry alongside Ashley Wright. He also works full time as a consultant at Slalom in downtown Seattle. Prior to serving at the Seattle Church of Christ, Mick worked in public accounting and management consulting in Los Angeles, California and Sydney, Australia. He grew up in the Seattle area, graduating from Bellevue High School and the University of Washington, where he became a Christian. He thoroughly enjoys the opportunity to glorify God in working with singles all over the Seattle area. In his down time, Mick enjoys traveling, hiking, playing and watching football and basketball, and finding a great coffee shop to read!
Ashley Wright – Singles Ministry Leader
Ashley serves the westside region of the Seattle Church of Christ, leading the Urban Professionals (Singles) Ministry alongside Mick Connors. A Georgia native, prior to moving to the Seattle area in 2014, Ashley interned in the ministries in Athens, GA, Atlanta, GA, Knoxville, TN, and Philadelphia, PA in various capacities ranging from middle school, campus, and singles ministry. Ashley graduated with a bachelor’s from The University of Georgia and Master’s from Kennesaw State. During her time outside of ministry, Ashley provides professional counseling in private practice. Ashley loves being able to serve in the full time ministry and is passionate about women’s ministry and singles ministry. Ashley enjoys hosting friends in her home, cooking, music, dance, exercise, exploring new places, and the scenic views of Washington.
Josh Benton – Teen Ministry Leader
Josh serves the Teen Ministry alongside Allie Struzyna. After graduating with a B.A. in History from Virginia Tech, he moved across the country to Spokane, WA, where he spent two years working as a campus ministry intern with the Spokane Christian Church. His experience also includes campus internships in Lansing, Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He is continuing his education as he works on a certificate in Biblical Studies from the Athens Institute of Ministry. Although a native East-coaster, Josh has fallen in love with the beauty and character of the Northwest! He spends his time rock climbing, cheering on Virginia Tech football, and hunting down the elusive perfect burrito.
Allie Struzyna – Teen Ministry Leader
Allie has helped lead the Teen Ministry since April of 2015. She graduated from the University of Washington in 2013 with a degree in Disability Studies. During her time at UW, Allie was a part of the UW Women’s Rowing Team and also became involved with the SCOC Campus Ministry. Through this, she participated in several ministry internships where she developed a passion for helping others to better understand God, the Bible and themselves. She is currently working towards a Certificate in Biblical Studies with the Athens Institute of Ministry. Before serving in ministry, Allie worked for a non-profit that creates job opportunities for adults with disabilities. In her spare time, she enjoys being outside, hanging out with friends and trying different crafts/DIY projects!
