As the year comes to a close, we have a TON to be thankful for. Most recently, we saw THREE teens get baptized into Christ over the weekend of November 19-20.
Emily Davis made Jesus the Lord of her life on Saturday, and Hunter Nielsen and Brennan Weidrich were also baptized the following Sunday! We’re inspired by their faith to make such a huge decision as a teenager. We’re excited to see what God does with their remaining time in the teens, and who they’ll be baptizing someday!
And the year isn’t over yet! We’ll be celebrating an amazing 2016 with our annual Christmas Party on Saturday, December 10th at 7pm, in the ECS Chapel.
We’ll see you there! And once again, congrats to Emily, Hunter, and Brennan!

Author and speaker Guy Hammond is coming to Seattle from Friday, Sept. 30 – Oct. 1 for a weekend of teaching and encouragement based on his new book, “Messed Up”. Guy and guest speaker Brandon Redler share powerful personal stories and God’s scriptures to show others that no one is too “messed up” to repair a relationship with God.
Guy’s “Strength in Weakness” Ministry has helped thousands of believers overcome the entanglement of sexual sin. He has written several books on the subject, and is currently in production on Finding Guy, a film based on his life.
From July 17th-22nd, the Seattle Church of Christ hosted its 2016 NW Youth Camp for 250 middle school and high school students across the northwest. It was our biggest camp yet, and God has already blessed it in amazing ways. Our theme this year was “ANCHORED”, taken from Hebrews 6:19 – “We have this hope [in Christ] as an anchor for our souls, safe and secure.” Jesus is a flawless anchor in our lives when we allow his words to impact us. The week’s lessons focused on anchoring ourselves in the truth, in unity, in holiness, and in eternity! Surely we have no greater hope in this world than in Him.
Since returning from camp, good news has flooded in from across the northwest. Many teens have been inspired to study the bible and commit their lives to Jesus! This past Sunday, our own Marcus Evans was baptized into Christ in front of a large crowd of friends and family, and his decision has inspired many more to start changing their lives. We have also seen a swell of unity in the Teens. Events like our “Get Lost!” hikes have been well-attended and tremendously fun! Our last hike to Eagle Falls had 25 teens in attendance as we swam the Skykomish River and relaxed along its shores. We’ll be having more hikes to more exotic locations soon.
We believe that God uses camp as an effective springboard for our faith leading into the new school year. The decisions made in the summer can last for the rest of the year, and the rest of our lives! Camp has called us to increase our faith and trust in Jesus over any worldly thing that can quickly knock us overboard. We’re excited to see how God’s plans unfold in the Youth and Family Ministry!
