On Saturday, Daren and Karla Overstreet led our families through an exciting vision for the Youth and Family Ministry in 2017. In the first half, they cover the roles and expectations of teen leaders, parents, and teens, and how we can work together for spiritual growth. In the second half, they are joined by Allie, Josh, and several mature couples from our Parent Advisory Committee for a Q&A. We’re excited about Y+F in 2017!
“Journey to Hope” is a weekend workshop designed to teach Christian believers how to overcome painful experiences (How to Overcome Painful Experiences = HOPE!). Developed by Farrar Moore (graduate degree in Biblical counseling) and Sheryl Cook (graduate degree in Education), both certified Grief Recovery Counsellors, the Journey to Hope workshop was born out of the founders’ own personal experience as they faced the challenges of providing end of life support and care for parents and grandparents. Sara Felushko, Women’s Minister and Certified Grief Recovery Counselor from the Vancouver church of Christ, is licensed by Caring Resources [a 501(c)(3) organization] to deliver the Journey to Hope workshop and train Journey to Hope facilitators. The focus of the workshop is not just for those who feel they are in crisis or struggling openly with life-controlling problems, but is intended to provide practical action steps and support for anyone in the church community — for those who outwardly seem to have it together, but secretly struggle, and those who are thriving regardless of the circumstances. “Journey to Hope” is appropriate for anyone you know, who may be interested in learning practical skills based on Biblical principles which will help when facing any kind of painful experience. You do not have to be a member of the Seattle church to participate. It’s a great way to introduce friends to the power of God’s word, and a meaningful way to connect with and serve believers in other congregations.
Register online at init4life.ca. The cost for the weekend is $185, with a discount for students, seniors, and returning participants. The workshop will be held at the Seattle church’s Queen Anne Building, 25558th Ave., W Seattle, WA 98119, from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, April 22nd, and 1:30pm to 5:30 pm on Sunday, April 23rd, 2017

Service will be at the Queen Anne church building at 2555 8th Ave W, Seattle. Christmas Morning Service:
This year Christmas falls on a Sunday, so please join us to celebrate the birth of our Savior on the holiday dedicated to it! We will have a morning service, December 25th at 10am at the Eastside Christian School in Bellevue. This will be a wonderful time to remind ourselves of what Christmas is really about, to focus ourselves and our families on Jesus Christ. We will have our service as usual with singing, prayer, and a lesson preached from the Word of God (kids classes may be limited). Please join us on this important day of worship as we lift up our Savior!
Seattle Church of Christ will be donating gift bags to support women in permanent housing residing at the YWCA in Seattle. The donated items will provide encouragement and emotional support to women escaping homelessness and violent domestic relationships. Collection of items ends on Dec 11th. Please coordinate with your church small group (Ohana or Bible Talk). Thank you!
